If a circular format was being consider I would use a wide angle lens on
the camera (60mm rather than 80mm perhaps) then use a shorter f.l.
viewer lens (60mm rather than 80mm) to get both a larger magnification
and more image so I don't lose any corner view.

Practically speaking this is the same as just using the same lens
combo's and stay with the square film format, the extra viewer
magnification will just mask out the corners of the image and produce a
full lens dia. image rather than a porthole window image.

I have no idea if I would like viewing this way, but I can try it
sometime and see how it works.  

Eventually I would probably end up with fisheye lens MF images and the
shortest f.l. viewer lens I could find and still have a sharp image.

Anybody have a really good fisheye MF image I could borrow?
