[photo-3d] Illumination affects viewing realism too!

Sometime back Oleg mentioned that viewing with the
Franka viewer and its 47mm achromatic lenses, is
more realistic than viewing with the red button's
44mm lenses. I expressed skepticism that this small
difference in focal length (and image size) can
explain the big difference that Oleg was talking
about and wondered if there was another factor
involved.

I now think I have this second factor: Viewer
illumination. Oleg's red button has gone through
my hands and this work includes painting of the
lamp compartment white and installing a halogen
frosted bulb. I am willing to bet that the intensity
of the light is significantly higher than the Franka
viewer (how is this viewer illuminated Oleg?)

In the past I have experimented along the lines
of optimum intensity. I found that if the light is
too bright, you can see grain in the slides and
many problems with focus, etc., which distracts
from viewing and diminished "viewing realism".

Oleg, try this experiment: Replace your halogen
bulb with a no. 14 and tell us how this affects
viewing.
