Yes, the bulbs are available.  The TDC 116 uses a CZX bulb.  You can get two of
them from Reel 3D http://stereoscopy.com/reel3d/lamps.html
for $46.95.  Drop-in replacement halogen bulbs are also available.

You can get a TDC 116 for $494 from http://www.3dstereo.com.  It's fully
reconditioned and carries a guarantee.

On eBay they're available fairly often, and usually sell for around $300.

Bottom line--if it's "as is", $500 is a little steep.
