A seller will place his/her item where ever they think it will get the 
most exposure and ultimately the best price. Usable stereo stuff will 
get the best exposure in the stereo section of eBay. A collectable 
stereo toy might get the best exposure in the collectable toy section. 
(I am not saying that ViewMaster is a toy!)

A buyer looking for a specific item will search on just that item and 
find it no matter where it is located. A casual browser will go to 
catagories to look and end up missing a few items placed elsewhere.

As long as eBay lets everyone choose where ever they want to place an 
item there will always be somewhat of a crap shoot in finding things. 
How many people are missing all those POG caps that are being listed in 
stereo photography?
