I recently found an alternative to Agfa Scala and do-it-yourself Black and
White slides at this website http://www.aimcolor.com

Their name is Aim Color in LA and they have a process called ".dr5" that
supposedly offers a high quality chrome from regular black and white films.

I have not used their process, but they promise a lot.  Ilford says their
work "glows".
