If you intend to build another BURDLO, the difficulty which can't be overcome (for an amateur) lies in the new shutter. When I had modified my NIMSLO,in 1986,I met David BURDLER during a congress and explained him this obstacle. He accepted to provide me with a new shutter (a pair of thin steel blades with 2 openings) I think that making such pieces without industrial tools is a dream! As the BURDLO camera is now on sale (Reel 3D Enterprises)  may be you could ask them- ( or direct to David,if you are a member of the I.S.U) if they accept to deal with these components.
Regardingh the others points of the modification, I could give you the complete procedure with drawings.
