If you don't have the pocket opening tool, you can make do. I use
'spacers' (used for setting spark-plug gaps) to loosen the pocket
slightly, and then I push the chips firmly home using a natty pair of
white gloves (sold in photo suppliers for handling negatives).  You
might get fuller, more authoritative answers on the VM list
(ViewMaster@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx) <ViewMaster@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx>

It is not clear from your email whether you are using the special VM
film cutter. If not, I think Bob Aldridge wrote something releveant a
few years ago in the Sterescopic Society Bulletin. Cutters are
difficult to get hold of, but it may help to get some film from which
the chips have already been punched. I'm sure any VM shooter could
help you with that.
