Yes, I do. The best I can do (and have done it
occasionally even though no one has done that to me)
is to offer to pay for shipping. OK, sometimes I have
rounded the amount down a bit but not a whole much.
An ebay bid is a serious statement/promise and, as I
would honor my bids (I don't expect any favors), I expect
everyone who bids in my auctions to be prepared to follow
through with the consequences.
Also, don't forget, there is a "second poor sucker"
after him, or, in the auction jargon, "behind every
sucker there is another sucker" (this does not apply
for auctions with unreasonably high opening bid or
reserve where there might be only one sucker).
Letting the first sucker have the camera for $250
while the second sucker was bidding $450 is unfair
to the second sucker, don't you think?
That's the point of auctions...
George
PS. About the German/Greek question, I have researched
plenty of Greeks but in another collectible area. This
German was bidding in some items of interest to me so
I wanted to see what he was buying. Ebay will not let
me do that because of German privacy laws.
PSS. Thanks Bruce for the information regarding the
strange reflection (a.k.a. Springsteen's Comet)!
Will forward this to all interested parties.
