Nope.
First, the refresh is normally fixed at 60Hz.  That gives you 30Hz per
eye.  Wicked bad flicker and not prone to make a good impression on a
newbie viewer.  I find that at 30Hz on a CRT, I can stand to look at a
project to see how it came out, but not to work on it!

Second, the output of a flat panel is polarized.  If you look at them
with your shutter glasses on at any angle other than perfectly
horizontal, your display will be cut off by the non-matched polarizing
fields.
