[photo-3d] Alternative Quiz for Losers Like Me

Here's a puzzler for masochistic trick-stereo students.

You have a video tape that was taken on vacation at Mount Rushmore, and
you would like to freeze the tape on your television set, still-photograph
a left image, advance the tape and freeze it, then shift the still-camera
and shoot a right image so that within a conventional stereo pair of your
living room and television, there is a 3-D view of Mount Rushmore, with
the screen of the television serving as a correct foreground stereo
window.

What video camera movement should you have executed at Mt. Rushmore to
make such a feat possible? No digital editing allowed.

Put another way, is it possible to "steal" two images from a video tape
that would give you a stereo pair that automatically was framed for a
proper near stereo window? What sort of camera movement would have to
have been used by the videographer?

Prize of a half-pound of salt-water taffy to the longest, most
incomprehensible correct answer.
