Excuse me? Who said that? Are you quoting
someone Peter or is this your personal opinion?
Because I will have to respectfully disagree.

Some (many... OK, most) red button lenses show
slight haze, possibly due to the cement used
to hold the elements. But optically they are
great and the ones who have clear lenses are a
joy to use and view through. These are possibly
the best achromats used in a stereo viewer.

In addition to my red button, I also own the
following viewers: DeWijs Compo, DeWijs Easy STL,
Ekeren 5XR. In terms of quality and convenience
of use, the Realist red button is up there with
the best.

If you are blessed with a near average interpupilary
distance (like I am :)) and don't have too small
or too large spacing of the eyes, then the red
button viewer is one of the best viewer you can
use for Realist format slides (up to 33mm wide
in a viewer than has gone through my service).
