I can't argue with the good Doctor, but with "ordinary" Realist 
viewer cemented doublet lenses, my eyes simply can't focus on 
details beyond a ~5p circular zone of sharpness, unless I adjust 
the viewer focus when looking at different areas of slides 
(which I'd rather not do). The OEM replacement 47mm or 
44mm Wollensak or Revere lenses I have show the same 
limitations.

Otoh, the "black" red-button (black plastic focus knob, black 
switch button) that I bought from DrT ($185 a couple of years 
ago) let's me clearly see into even 7p corners with relative ease 
and no refocusing. A mint "black" red-button I got on eBay 
($200) offers similar performance after widening, works nicely 
with 7p views.
