Thank you Allan for the two very informative postings
regarding this projector!

I am still very happy and excited about this... Projection
for personal use or family entertainment was really not
an option with the hassles of setting things up and laboring
through the process, jumping from the projector to closer
to the screen and back again. Not fun. I would only project
just to see how the slides look projected, to decide which
ones to enter in competitions or to get ready for club
presentations. I believe that now with the RBT I will project
every slide I mount, enjoy the process, and invite my family
to enjoy too! It just changes my entire attitude towards
stereo projection.

>I know of one American who bought an RBT projector and straight
>away took it to Club and hoped to make a big impression by running
>the local Club Comp. through his new RBT.

Ha! This will be me on April 3rd! Al Sieg (President of PSA)
will be there to observe and he can be our witness! (He will
be our invited guest for the first part of the meeting and
a judge in the second part, the competition using the RBT
projector).

>Because the Club Comp. slides turned out to be a mixed
>bag (as they usually are), his attempt was a complete failure.

Our slides are also a mixed bag but there are no glass
mounts there. No members use glass slides. There are
only cardboard and RBTs. Old timers have their slides
in heat-seal cardboard. Some newer members use Spicers.
Most newer members use RBTs for competition/projected slides.
So I am confident that everything will work well. I can just
picture the competition chairman having 3 RBT trays in front
of him and putting the slides into the slots after he
marks them on paper. Then we load the first tray and
off we go! We hand or projectionist the remote and tell
him to sit down and relax! I am really hoping to make a
big impression, just as Allan said! I'll let you know
how it goes!

>Nuff said. Really, Don, it might be the best thing you
>could do - that is - strip down the BEST of your glass mounted stuff, CLEAN
>the film chips, remount in RBT mounts and go from there. I was so pleased
>that I did that with the best of mine. I was appalled at the amount of dirt
>AND mildew that had accumulated under that glass. Once you have no sharp
>metal edges to cause damage, you'll be pleased you are rid of glass. That
>method was good in its day. In my opinion, its day has been and gone!

I agree with this assessment. I used to mount my best/projected
slides in glass. Not any more. I am remounting some of them
to RBTs as needed. Two years ago I made the statement that
I will mount in glass only the very valuable family slides.
I have not mounted a single slide in glass these two years.
"Its day has been and gone!" for me too.
