I guess this is Murphy's law, or some variation thereof. Like the 
behavior of toast, when finger fumble and gravity o'ertakes. The 
probability that it will fall face down depends on whether or not 
it's plain, buttered, covered with jam, etc., and if the surface is 
a plain, easily cleaned floor, an acrylic rug, a wool rug, etc.  :>)
