[photo-3d] First public test drive of RBT 101

Greetings,

Last night I gave my first mini stereo slide show
with my new RBT 101 stereo projector. The last
minute (how typical for me!) I grabbed 50 slides
from Greece (no preview show), a mixed bag of
mounts, put them in an RBT slide storage tray,
packed the projector and a 50 in. screen, grabbed
my children and headed for the Greek school.

I told the kids that if they are quiet, I'll show
them stereo slides from Greece in the last half
hour of the class. That worked miracles for paying
attention during the lesson!

So, the last half hour I set the projector (a breeze,
really) and started the show.

They loved it!

They were sitting just a couple of feet from the
screen. The projector is fitted with 120mm lenses
(roughly 5" as in TDC w/5") and it was set so that
it would fill the 50" screen with 7p images. I was
behind the kids, between the projector and screen.
I was using the corded remote from my seat.

There were a few cardboard (Spicer) mounted slides,
one glass with EMDE aluminum binder and the rest
were in RBTs. The projection was flawless! From
time to time I would check alignment and it was right
on the money for all slides. Only one RBT-mounted
slide was a bit off (the image, not the border...
mounting error that I should correct later...)

The kids were really interested in the pictures
and were asking questions. Occasionally, they
would ask to see the previous slide and I would
smile and press the reverse button (back in the
good old TDC and Brackett days I would be dropping
slides in the floor at this time...) I thought I
was going fairly slowly (it took half an hour to
project 50 slides... that's a slow projection) but
the kids a couple of times said that I was going
too fast!

One little girl complained that she was getting
a headache. I told her to close her eyes if
it hurts and invited her to sit back with me and
let her hold the remote and advance the slides.
She liked that! Of course, another little girl
was jealous and I promised her that next week
(yes, there will be another stereo projection
next week!) I'll let her use the remote. That
made her day (OK, night!) She made a point of
reminding me before leaving, that next week she
will hold the remote. (Flashback in pre-RBT
times: "Next time, I will project the slides!" :))

As you can see, I am enjoying my new toy! Together
with the RBT 101 I also ordered an RBT X3 stereo
camera... they both arrived at the same time (no,
I did not win the lotto...). I was more anxious
for the projector than the camera. Now that I have
both, I look more forward to using the projector
than the camera. They cost roughly the same amount
of money. If you have that amount of money and
you are wondering wether to upgrade from a Realist
camera to an RBT camera or from a TDC projector to
an RBT projector, getting the camera should not
necessarily be the first or obvious choice.
