Leiz built a hypostereo outfit (two twinned lenses in the same barrel) and a
beamsplitter to allow shooting normal stereos... similar lenses &
attachments were built by Zeiss (for Contax), by Nikon (for S models), by
soviet manufacturers (for Fed-1) and by Yahgee for Exacta ... and now are
worth thousands $ in the collectors' market.
IMHO those lens assemblys & attachments had all the advantages of
beamsplitters without some of their limits, like the exaggerated telephoto
perspective and the poor separation of frames.
One could hack two Loreo "Lens'n cap"'s and craft himself a hypostereo
attachment, then find a suitable beamsplitter or craft a beamsplitter.
But the Loreo people showed they own the technolgy and the skill needed for
low-cost wide-angle lenses (as the "Lens'n cap" is) and low-cost
beansplitters (like their 3d camera).
Any chance to see something like a simplified stemar from LOREO?
Sergio
P.S. a Stemar and a sketch can be seen @
