I use my minidisc recorder ( Sharp ms722...a nice sounding unit) to
record live audio to accompany my stereo photos too. The ideal
arrangement is to match the audio with the images in a mini-program
format, using headphones for the audio playback.
It is quite a different challenge to playback binaural recordings
through a home speaker system and expect to achieve good results. I find
it necessary to carefully re-process the audio for decent results
through room speaker systems. Once the audio is re-processed, I can burn
the mix to an audio CD and replay the audio on any speaker system.
Currently, I'm experimenting with Pro-logic receivers, DSP's and
seperate 4 channel audio systems. There are several ways to achieve a
surround effect. The idea is to produce a simple yet effective method of
surround sound to accompany a slide show. I thought I might prepare a
surround demo for OSPS next season .......adding good sound makes a
program more memorable and interesting IMO.
