I wholeheartedly second the vendors contribution! The neat thing
with the trade show is not only getting the opportunity to see
and buy new/old and interesting things (although with Ebay and
all, it's reduced the buying part somewhat), but also running
into all kinds of people (old acquaintances, strangers, vendors)
and being able to have a conversation. I remember in one
convention, I didn't even get a chance to see the whole trade
show, constantly running into all kinds of interesting people! 

Try that in a dark Stereo Theatre! The Stereo Theatre is great 
and all, but I don't think I could sit in there ALL day, so the
other concurrent activities makes for a pleasant change of
fresh air.
