I'll agree that the vendors shouldn't be that which the
system revolves around, but they should be included as part of the core
that things revolves around. They also are a significant part of the
convention experience.

Nor should meetings/presentations be in conflict with each other (I wish)
nor should they be in conflict with the stereo theatre. Ideally, it should
be week-long convention with everything done serially. Otherwise, I see
no way around having competitions of things going on. Personally I'd
find the vendors to be the least of the problem. They're the same
(relatively speaking) no matter what hour you go to see them, so they
are the easiest to "schedule" when picking where to go at any given
time. It's the three presentations going on simultaneously that also
are the top three of all you wanted to see that's the problem. And
usually, the next hour is one that you don't mind passing on all of
them (and when you go to see the vendors).
If anything, I'd like "everybody else" to go to see the vendors so
I can get a good seat (definitely not a standing-only "seat" which
I've gotten) at a good presentation.

True, although the buyers of such goods don't get to talk to them in
person, nor usually be able to see items in person either. The
internet doesn't allow one to see things they couldn't afford. For
instance, the very first time I saw de Wijs viewers was at a NSA
convention. No way I could afford one at the time, but I certainly
enjoyed looking through one (at 3D images!). It's not the same as
seeing a picture of one on de Wijs' website! Not even close! It's that
pleasant experience that led me to now having two de Wijs viewers which
I enjoy using immensely. The vendors, in effect, had made up a hands-on
presentation of "3D viewers, today and tomorrow". It just wasn't listed
that way in the event schedule.

You make me feel sad...... We're not talking now in a spirit of
camaraderie here in a virtual place and time? ;-(

All I mean to say is that some of those who are vendors and part of the evil
money-grabbing-empire conspiracy -- secretly are people who actually are
VERY interested in 3D photography for other than the reported evil reasons.
Not only that, but those who visit them at their booths consider the activity
to be very beneficial to their own stereography interests and one of the reasons
to attend the convention, even if only a secondary reason.
