Thanks to all for the many recommendations. I looked at the Olympus T-20 on the B&H site (www.bhphoto.com), and I really like the low profile of it. However, it's a bit pricey for my current needs.

I did pick up a used Sunpak Auto 321 from a local store over the weekend, and it looks great. It uses 4 AA batteries, and it has a built-in PC cord as well as a "hot" shoe, so I can use my adapter without having to modify either the camera or the flash, and without having to stack two adapters on top of each other. The flash can be used vertically, or pivoted to the left or right by 90 degrees. Also, the light portion can be pulled forward and aimed left or right by 90 degrees. (This is great for use with a Tri-Delta Prism, since I can actually get the flash to aim in the same direction as the Prism adapter!)

I've just taken a couple of test shots with this, but it looks great. I don't know the GN, but from the chart, it looks like at f/5.6 on M(anual?), it will illuminate at about 10-14 feet, which is a bit more powerful than my previous flash. So, overall, it looks good.

Thanks again. Maybe I'll keep an eye on eBay for the Olympus T-20.

Thanks!

P.S. - Once I had a replacement flash, I was willing to take apart my Vivitar SMS 40D. Turns out I just had to clean the battery leakage off the terminals and it's working again. So now I have a back-up.
