The camera purchase/loan program of the OCC is a great idea.  Camera clubs
can offer their members all sorts of benefits if thought is put to it.  For
example, volume discounts on purchases of film, slide mounts, etc.  Members
add their names to an application list, then when sufficient names are on
the list to meet the next price break, the members on the list deposit the
funds with the club treasurer, and the items are ordered at the discount
price.  This can even be used as a fund raiser by offering the items to the
members at a price in between that of the discount price and the full price,
and putting the difference in the club treasury for future endeavors, such
as new club projectors, screens, whatever is needed.
