No, it was pure speculation based on "who in their right
mind will let go of this family treasure?" (my phrase)

I think I have created a monster by bringing this up...
It does raise a few valid issues for those collecting,
buying/selling, non-commercial (family, etc.) stereo images.  
I was contacted once by a stereo photographer who told
me to look for stereo slides of a specific family name
that were sold (unwillingly, but not stolen) in the 
Cleveland area and now the relatives want them back.
Also, how would I have felt if my aunt had thrown away
precious stereo images of my family, before I was old
enough to realize their value?  It makes sense that
back, but is it my job/responsibility to investigate this
possibility?

Perhaps we can continue in photo-3d?
