S3D Re: TAB: Virtual Boy

Jeremy,

The best place to get info about Virtual Boy is at:

http://dana.ucc.nau.edu/~dbt/VBMain.html
(The Unofficial Nintendo Virtual Boy Homepage)

For more technical information, please check:

(Virtual Boy Technical Information)

My favorite game was virtual Tetris (Japanese version). It was sort of
"primitive", but very well designed. I just hated the "red color" they
choose for the display. It was very tiresome for my eyes.

I disagree with someone here who said that games for VB are expensive. That
is purely a signal "Viewmaster/Stereo photo mentality". :-) I bought a few
titles for $5-$8 dollars each at http://www.gexpress.com/ . I remember they
selling a brand new VB console for something like $20. (Gexpress is the
coolest site ever if you are a video-game fan or collector!). I can still
find many of them around for outrageously cheap prices (both here in SF Bay
area and in Tokyo or Osaka). It is just a question of going look for them.
Initially the titles and console were very expensive. I remember paying top
yen for my console just after they released in 1995... But, after that it
has been downhill. Maybe some places/people are trying to speculate on basis
of "scarcity", but a longer walk will bring you a big payoff. Specially if
you have a chance to go to Japan (where most of the software and consoles
were sold).

Another thing is that people also created a VB emulator that runs on Windows
and Linux. I've heard binary images of VB ROMs are available on the
Internet, but certainly they must be illegal copies.

If you are really looking for cool stuff, I really recommend the 3-D LCD
glasses that Sega sold for its SMS system during the late 80s-early 90s. It
was full color, extremely cool. I am not sure if this peripheral ever hit
the US market, but I never could afford to buy one by that time. :-)

Ciao, ciao.
