Yes, I also have been using PayPal for several months now and have found
their service very beneficial (unfortunately they are still only
servicing USA customers). And they do pay new members $5 for signing up
(use to be $10, but times are good!).

I have used their direct deposit service, and the transfers do happen in
3 to 4 days (PayPal does need to make a profit).

It does take a credit card number to sign-up, and many people are afraid
to do that. For those reluctant to give a credit card over the
"Internet" I have had a credit card number stolen from the trash at a
restaurant and have not had a credit card number stolen over the
Internet yet (about 4 years of Internet purchases). Of course it is the
odds, but I have not seen a difference in the security of face-to-face
and Internet purchases yet.
