[sell-3d] S1

Hello,

I have been using the S1 for two years, and before that shot with both
the
Realist and TCD Vivid, as well as side by side SLRs. The S1 took some
time to
get used to, and it wasn't until I did so that I could truly appreciate
what a
great camera it was.

It's true that the lenses are contrasty, but a quality range finder will
do
this because of it's "simple" lens configuration when compared to an
SLR.
Fewer elements usually means greater contrast. Personally I always
found
Velvia too contrasty for portraits, and best suited for landscapes. I
recommend Provia F, it's much faster and can be pushed one stop with
great
results. It's great to have a speed of 200 and still have fine grain
and
acceptable contrast.

As far as the lens spacing goes, I love it! I think it's better for
shooting
closer, but still has tremendous depth at distances. The lenses have
such
great resolution and detail, that my S1 pictures seem to have more depth
than
ones taken with cameras of a larger stereo base.

Lastly, the flexibilty of the S1 is awesome. Exposure compensation is a
snap,
and the manual overide is very easy to use.

As John Golden said, the S1 is a very different animal. Once new S1
owners
get familiar with its characteristics and features, they will soon
become
believers.
