[sell-3d] OW Holmes Book, 1880 includes "The Stereoscope"

I'm sure most of you know of Oliver Wendall Holmes and the important role
he played in the history of Stereoscopy, as he was the inventer of the
classic "Holmes Bates" Stereoscope that accompanied every Victorian parlor
room. Some of you may remember my attempts a while back to get my copy of
Oliver Wendel Holmes' book "The Stereoscope and Stereoscopic Photographs"
copied in a limited run. This proved both too costly and problematic, so
the project was abandoned. That was just an 80 page book from 1898, and I
paid a small fortune for the original. It was actually just two articles
from the Atlantic Monthly from the 1860s that was compiled after Holmes'
death.

But now I have a copy of another compilation of his writings that was put
together in 1880 called "Soundings from the Atlantic". This contains THE
EXACT same articles that is in "The Stereoscope and Stereoscopic
Photographs" plus a lot more! Amongst the 10 chapters in this book are "The
Stereoscope and the Stereograph" (41 pages), "Sun Painting and Sun
Sculpture" (61 pages, also 3d related), and "Doings of the Sunbeam" (53
pages, general photgraphy). That's 155 pages of 3d and photo related text
from the 1860s. Other articles of historical interest involve references to
the Civil War, artificial limbs, the music organ and many others.

The condition of the book is good with no tears or folded pages. The spine
is good without any fading. There is some moisture damage on the cover, as
well as leaving some pages wavy.

A very historic writing that is essential reading to anyone interested in
the history of Stereoscopy and photography in general.
