You are quite fortunate in that respect.  I'm still trying to get a seller to 
negotiate with me re the damage to the case of a TDC Projector/Viewer.  The 
Projector/Viewer was shipped UPS ground  from around Boston to San Diego in 
the case without the benefit of any  packaging to protect the case.  His 
position has been the Blame the Victim approach.  He is avoiding the wrath of 
eBay's SafeHarbor group because I, foolishly, bought the item after the 
auction ended without the reserve having been met.  He is, however, the only 
eBay seller who has tried to burn me.  Under regular auction circumstances, I 
would have filed negative feedback... without any qualms about his dissing 
me.  Too many buyers have let unethical sellers get away with their 
shenanigans because they (the buyers) just walk away from the issue.

Fortunately, however, other sellers, as has been your experience, have been 
quite civil in handling any questions re questionable representation of 
merchandise.
