I think I was a little cryptic in answering Ray's question.

Ray, if you put a piece of grid paper on the table top and
toe in on it, the grid will be a trapezoid with the large
end to the left in one image and the large end to the right
for the other image.  When you present these two views in a
stereoscope, it won't look the same as when you were there
in person looking at the grid because in person, the piece 
of paper presents the same grid to both eyes.
