Well, you got me going early this morning. 8-) I agree with
your math. The only thing I can say is that all this is based
on the Rayleigh criterion which is that the first minimum falls
on the adjacent image's maximum and that this is an arbitrary
criterion which is very sensitive to contrast. I used a target
with a contrast of only 2 stops. I think the problem is
somewhere in that area.
Note that the values I gave in my previous post are approximate.
There are slightly different values according to whether you are
trying to resolve lines or points and I'm not sure I got that
right. The values ought to be with 20% one way or the other.
No time to look into it now.
