I assume by "sandwiched Polaroid" you mean putting polarizing 
film in the mount with the transparency.  Don't forget we had a 
discussion here and experiments done by me a while back which 
showed that the projection lens itself does a certain (minor) 
amount of depolarizing due to its curved surface.  The best 
polarization must therefore come when the polarizer is downstream 
of the projection lens.
