At our recent SCSC club competion, I notice that the quality of our
mounting varies wildly.

Has anyone ever done surveys of the quality of mounting in stereo
competitions?  I'm not talking about what we "ought" to do, or what our
goals are, but what is the actual practice.  How much deviation is really
on the slides? How are they mounted in relation to the window?  What is the
far point separation?

If anyone knows of such a study, I would appreciate a reference so I can
read it.
