Hi all,

Well, I am jumping for joy!

The rig with the led light and new flash works AMAZINGLY WELL.

For those of you that don't recall the first bit of this:

I took at Teco-Nimslo and the 6inch attachment, and added a Super
Bright (about $1.60 not the $6.00 ones) LED over the light sensor, and
wired the LED to a AAA battery holder with two AAA batteries, and a
tiny switch.

Now the new stuff:

I then super glued a sunpak 1400 flash upside down just over and a bit
to the side of the middle 2 lenses ofthe nimslo. The reason I did
this was because the sunpak 1400 cost about $20 new and has a button
that pops the flash head out of the flash boddy and turns it on at the
same time. This gave me a flash that didn't stick out to far from the
camera and gives wonderfull alumination.
I added two plastic diffusers (the kind you get in one of those swatch
books) to get the flash to give out f22 at 6 inches.

The depth of field is about from 5.5 inches to about 8.5 inches. I
also added a small piece of wire by taping it to the bottom of the
camera, and I measured 6in to the end of it from the lenses NOT THE
FILM PLAIN. This seems to work great, and I have taken some great
pictures of friend's faces. BE WARNED, most people do not look good
this close up, and may be pissed at you if you show them what they
look like this close. I feel that they are some of the most
expresive pix I have taken, and love the face shots.

To sync the flash with the camera (which doesn't have a pc in) I had
to get a hotshoe female to malePC , and then on the camera I put a
hotshoe male to PC female.

I am going to figure out the amount of diffusion needed for the 12inch
attachment, and shoot some like that, but I am sure it will work.
Also I may put a bar off of the bottom of the camera and add another
flash with a peanut slave to fill in some light from the other side.

If you already have a teco-nimslo and the closeup attachments, then
your cost for this addition would be as such:

$20 flash
$5 LED, Battery holder, switch

So if you include buying a teco-nimslo and the 6 & 12 inch attachments
I am pretty sure you could have this handy dandy macro shots of living
subjects for under $250.

I don't even think it took 3 hours to put together, and that included
testing some other ideas.

I wish that it were more the 4 perfs wide, but considering that there
is no option for a macro stereo rig that is more than 4p under $2,000,
I can live with it.

Again I want to thank those on the list that have added there ideas,
and all of you that have made cool rigs of viewers and cameras, you
have inspired me to do this.

If any one is interested in seeing pictures of the rig, I can take
some with a digital camera and put them on my web site. I will try to
get the time to scan at least one of the photo pairs taken with it and
put it on my web site.

Lincoln
