RE:  John B. says equal linear aperture give sames depth of 
field..e.g. a large format  8 inch lens at f/8 with 1-inch aperture has 
same depth of field as 2-inch (50mm normal) lens at f/2 with one 
inch aperture. WOW now we see how awful large and medium 
format are where you have to really stop down to poor resoltion to 
get any depth of field.  But the 35mm advantage disappears if you 
englarge to EQUAL image Magnifaction..e.g. the same f/stop has 
same depth of field at equal magnification... BobH 
(Now are you confused? Its all in the circle of confusion, size 
determined by angle made by linear apeture at film/lens distance? )
