T3D Movie Effects

Recently, Pittsburgh has become a popular backdrop for Hollywood movies.
I marvel at how well the scenes ( especially night scenes) look so color
saturated and beautiful. A few years ago while filming the Bruce Willis
movie " Striking Distance" (?) I awed at the elaborate lighting sceme as
trucks pulled huge skylights/spotlights around to backlight buildings,
streets and river banks. Some movies require entire city blocks to be
closed off during filming. Alot of local shops etc. were paid an average
daily fee ( equal to an average day's earnings) to remain closed (or
open) as background props for the movie. Hollywood is amazingly
self-indulgent with unlimited resources! More recently Hollywood closed
down a section of the prestigious Carnegie Mellon University so Michael
Douglas could run up and down some stairs and say a few lines.
I also suspect some of the color is digitally manipulated in scenes,
cause some of the footage looks better than Velvia 50! :-)
