Hello David
Basically, I have worked out how to calculate the size of, and
distance to, the stereo window by measuring various parts of the
camera, and then substituting these measurements into formulae. This
will work with a dedicated stereo camera, or with twinned or siamesed
or even cha-cha-ed mono cameras.
I was hoping that someone will be able to tell me whether or not this
has been published before, as it would be embarrasing to publish
something with my name on it and then find out that these formulae
are already attributed to someone else.
The article I was hoping to publish concerns the derivation of the
formulae. The implications, accuracy and usefullness I may have to
leave to more experienced stereo photographers.
For example, the formula for distance is
bf
d = -------
(o-i)
d= distance from lenses to window
b= stereo base
f= distance from lenses to film
o= width of that part of image outside the lens axes
i= width of that part of image inside the lens axes
