What a fascinating project! The uncanny "unreality" of IR could
create some striking results.

Using HIE with a SLR is considerably easier than with a rangefinder
model, however, because of the built-in metering. You set the film
speed according to the box insert, and the metering will do a fairly
good job of adjusting for the filter factor. This means, among other
things, that if the sun goes behind a cloud you can switch from a
deep-red to a light-red filter and get an image that makes use of more
visible light. With a deep red filter, a passing cloud both keeps the
light too low for most practical purposes and, worse, reduces IR even
more than the visible light, making bracketing that much more
desirable.
