Ektachrome IR & polarizers

Hi gang,

One of Guenter Spitzings chapters on polarizers caught my
attention....he once experimented with an ordinary polarizer and EI,
with in his mind the fact that IR can pass normal polarizers
unaffected. He therefor assumed and proved that polarized
reflections appeared red on IE.
Should have tried this myself, but haven't yet.
Anyone done this?
He says this effect equals the use of color polarizers
(Cokin/Hoya)....might be an interesting field of experiments with
those things as well....

I believe George L. Smith has some IE's on his homepage taken with a
strong color (pop) filter....could you eleborate on this George?
I assume you have worked out some rules of thumb for that effect?
