Each of the images on my Web page is accompanied by a short description
of the images, as well as exposure information. Each of the Kodak
infrared images was metered through the filter, the Konica images were
metered with the filter over the spot meter.

My rules of thumb are quite simple and come from experience. This is
why I would recommend people shoot a couple of rolls at differing EIs
and development times (I believe I posted my numbers in an earlier post)
and see for themselves what is happening. Then they can adjust for
their equipment and metering technique. Very generally, the lower the
EI, the smoother the image, the higher the EI, the grainier the image
with a loss of contrast (assuming "proper development"). Taken into
account must be the time of day, time of year, weather conditions, etc.,
as well as what result the artist has in mind.
