I believe both Jesse David Andrewartha and Andrew Davidhazy can 
confirm that at least 9.5" Aerochrome is different, because the E-4 
alternative processes leave a nasty blue sludge/cast? on the film. 
Jesse, have you discovered anything since you posted this experience 
to PhotoForum? [part of this discussion is online on my homepage btw]

I already got myself a nice Kinderman 70 tank outfit, including a 
contraption to spool the film onto the reel. Wonder whether this 
thing is usefull for loading cartridges with new film as well....

FWIW: I just discovered that Walter Clark, from Kodak Research
Laboratories in Rochester, gave an interview about EI & HIE in this
German IR/UV book of Guenter Spitzing [Cor: page 169 in his 1992
edition]. 
I will try to translate and post it here, if time permits....

PS: Ken Sinclair: is this the same guy you spoke to on a science
