Are you sure about the second *linear* polarizer? If you put the
ordinary pol last in line (the way the Cokin system works), there
shouldn't be a difference IMO. The retarder/quarter wave plate (what
makes it a circular pol) is on the back of the pol, so it shouldn't
influence the 'interaction' between mono/vario pol and ordinary pol.

I definately want to give those magic filters a try in future.
Did you know that Hoya also makes mono and vario pol's?
Four mono's: Orange, Red, Yellow and Blue (in the past also Purple
and Green)
Five vario's: Red/Blue, Yellow/Green, Yellow/Red, Red/Blue and Red/Green.
FWIW: Cokin has three mono's (lacks the Orange), and four
vario's: Red/Green, Red/Blue, Purple/Orange, Blue/Yellow.
Seems fun stuff to experiment with on IE, but I guess predictability
goes down the drain in notime....8-))
