Bio

- Name: Alton L. Brintzenhoff - Tony

- Profession/Study: Professional Software Engineer; Amateur photographer.

- Country: USA (CA, VA)

- Personal history of photography
Have taken photos for several years, mostly travel, flowers, some people,
nearly always slides. About two years ago, decided to become more serious:
archived an old Fujica, bought a Canon Elan and 28-80mm USM and 75-300mm USM
(great camera), bought some filters, have taken some classes (darkroom,
lighting, portraiture), and bought several photo books (monographs and
How-to) and am working on improving my artistic and technical aspects.
Also joined two photo clubs in Northern VA, and have won some prizes in the
Novice category (BW,
Color slides)

- preferred subjects:
Flowers, travel, jazz musicians, modern dance, people, some architecture.

- materials (film, filters, paper, chemistry):
Positive film: Scala; Velvia, Provia(400, 1600), Sensia(100, 200); Lumiere,
Elite (100, 200), Ektachrome; have some Agfa RSX (50, 100, 200) to try.
(E6 process via mailers to Kodak Premium (also Fuji) or local lab; Scala via
Duggal)

Negative film: Ektapress (100), Tmax(100, 400, 3200), HIE (1st roll, 96/06/22!)
(C41 process via 1-hr stores; local lab for Tmax, HIE)
Filters: 80A, 80C, CP, 25, Tiffen SoftFX2, Center Spot
Paper: Ilford Multigrade IV Deluxe, RC (8x10) for self-made BW prints;
Fuji paper from The SlidePrinter; Brand X at one-hour stores.
Chemistry: no preferences at this time.

- format (35mm/medium format/large format):
Strictly 35mm at this time.

- Other strange hobbies:
Cooking, travel

- How did you find out about this list:
Posting on EOS List from Willem-Jan Markerink.

- Expand on anything photographic you like:
Printed my first (ever) HIE IR print a few weeks ago, quite satisfactory
(with a
little dodging and burning). Generally got good results on open
landscale/architecture, bright sunny day, using f/11, 125, for -1, 0, +1
stop; (f/11, 125 seemed about the best of each group of 3). Planning to do
some more HIE, but with people (moderate close-ups), and also flash. (No
problems or only minor "flare" on HIE from Canon IR film advance sensor.)
Plan to do some more IR prints this weekend, post a few in the gallery
later. Also hope to become a little more active in the list.

Regards,

Tony
