Spot Meters
Fellow IR'ers & UV'ers-
I have, and use, a Pentax Digial Spot Meter. It is a wonderful
tool for measuring light but if you were going to use it for
IR film, I think your best results would be by reading from an
18% Gray card.
Honestly, though, I do not really think the spot meters earn
their keep unless used for determining exposure of 4x5, or
larger, films. If you are using the Zone System correctly, you
should be adjusting your development for each piece of film
(N-2, N-1, N , N+1, N+2) and this is not practical with roll
films (it is possible, however, if you carefully maintain
separate rolls, or film backs, for the different developing
batches you plan on using.)
That said, I purchased a spot meter when I had and used a 4x5
often. I do not have a very good 4x5 at the moment and would
consider selling my meter to someone if they really wanted one
as my Nikon has a spot meter and I have discovered that I end
up taking it with me wherever I take any other sort of camera
anyway.
Adam.
P.S. Not that I want to turn this list into a Marketplace, but
I also have a Gossen Luna Star F2, with a 10 degree spot
attachment That I am selling so if anyone is interested....
