Of these, the only factor that could account for such a radical
difference, IMHO, is the metering, but...

Well, this thread has gone on far too long.  My appologies to all for
that--and particularly to George and Cor if they think I'm trying to
complain about their advice.  That's not the point at all.  George and
Willem have repeatedly made the point that everybody's work habits and
objectives and equipment are different, and that one photographer's
technique can't be guaranteed to suit another.  Of course!  But I sure
wish I understood the difference in this case.

If any particupant has used D-76 *both* full strength and 1:1 on the
same type of film and would care to e-mail me his or her ideas on
respective development times, I'd be grateful.
