Dan-- I only encountered this problem once in over sixteen years of shooting
with infrared and my conclusion was that it was a defective roll of film. Try
another roll under similar lighting conditions and see what happens. I f it
reoccurs, it is a problem with the camera, if not, most likely it was a bad
roll of film.  ( what is the exp. date on the roll you shot? )
