I have never used Atomal on HIE or Konica 750. I use mainly the latter,
but currently am out because of a stupid mistake when I moved.

I have only used Atomal on PX and Agfa Superpan, a film of the early
'80's which was never a legal Agfa import, but was the best medium
speed (200) film I have ever used. Both produced very full emulsion
speed and very fine grain. Perhaps you could buy it from Saturn in Bonn,
or maybe Brenner? There are a number of european stores on the web.

Ilfosol-S is not a developer for pushing, but then HIE is faster than
claimed anyway. It is an excellent developer which, in the higher dilution
suggested by Ilford, is extremely easy to control.

My all-time favorite general-purpose developer is Microphen. Depending
on the film I mostly use it 1:3, and occasionally 1:1. I would recommend you
try Microphen 1:1, but be prepaerd to find your negatives will probably
have finer grain and more than normal shadow detail. A 1/3 to 1/2 stop
increase in real film speed is normal when going from a Metol-based developer
to a similar one using Phenidone. It seems to be a total freebie! I can
see no loss of sharpness, gradation, or increase in grain in any film that
I've processed in Microphen.

Hope this helps,
Ed
