I have mixed fealings about Microphen. My standard 400 speed B/W film is
HP5+, rated about 250-320. I've tested it with Microphen, and did find a
true speed increase to about 400, or maybe even a bit more. But I didn't
like the look of the grain. It wasn't necessarily larger, perhaps the
acutance was lower. In any case, the grain appeared more noticable. I
haven't used it since.
