Most professionals--particularly if they do advertising work in color,
where it is critical that the reproduced colors match those in the
client's product--buy film in large batches, do tests on a few rolls
to determine precise sensitivity and color balance, and freeze the
rest for future use.  Freezing slows, and indeed almost stops, film
deterioration.  So film that has been frozen can last far beyond the
expiration date printed on the package.
