I have been pondering about this recutting together with a
friend....I still have to see the first piece of 70mm film in my
life, but one of the problems might be that one cannot get rid of the
perforations on both sides, so they either are part of the exposed
area, or you get a rough splined edge on both sides (by cutting only
a few mm's of the film on both sides, into the perforation).
There are a few non-perforated films around (B+H lists one I
believe), but I doubt Aerochrome/grapic can be had that way. It will
definately fall outside the normal program, and require a large order
(read $$$).

I recently found a cheap Mamiya RB 70mm back, and by looking at its
internals I even doubt that the perforation is used for transport or
film counter; there is a sprocket, but a very 'blunt' one, it should
do no more than keeping the film at the right height, but 120/220
doesn't need that either.
Perhaps only real aerial applications (bulk roll) require the
perforation for transport, since turning a spool would result in too
much slop and a very high torque to rotate a large diameter roll (not
to mention variable film transport from one end of the roll to the
other).

PS: is any of you familiar with an US-military 70mm panorama camera
(180 degree view on a 10" wide frame), using an UV-corrected Zeiss
Planar 75mm? I might have a chance buying such a new/surplus camera,
but my contact person has difficulty tracing all technical spec's and
details....for example whether this contraption can be focused, and
whether it is suitable for visible (and of course IR) photography.
It's a huge beast of about 15kg and about a foot diameter large....8-))
Seems like fun....;-))
