Water does not reflect IR well.  I'm not certain exactly how you would
use IR film to examine this.  The only book I know of that addresses
scientific applications with IR is Walter Clark's "Photography By
Infrared."  The book is out of print and nearly impossible to find,
although you should be able to get it through interlibrary loan.
