Once in the camera, you do not have to keep a filter on the lens if you
don't want to. Feel free to compose the shot without the filter, then shoot
with the filter in place.

I use Patterson tanks and develope in normal room light without any problems

There is a kodak pamphlet on xtol which includes data on HIE. At 20 deg C.
the dev time is 6 min for full strength and 8.75min for 1:1 diluition. Both
times are for a CI=.58. Let me know by private email and I can email you a
pdf file from kodak
